5th March 2021

Dear Members,

Re-opening facilities

I am delighted to be writing about a positive issue and the initial plan laid out by the Government on the relaxation of Covid restrictions. Subject to the conditions of improvement in the pandemic being met, we are planning for the following to occur.

29th March

We will reopen our front gates!

Outdoor tennis courts will be open to members. This will mean recreational tennis can resume, including singles and doubles social play, 1:1 coaching and formally organised activity for groups, including group coaching (maximum group size and court ratios subject to confirmation). We plan to deflate the dome prior to 29th March, so these courts will be available as well. Please follow the announcements from the Tennis Director and Committee on rules concerning use.

Hockey will commence at Raynes Park High School pitch and the season will extend into May. If leagues do not resume, friendly matches will be arranged. The Hockey Committee will advise on activities as soon as plans are finalised.

Short Sports Easter camps will run outdoors, weather permitting.

Cricket nets and activities for both juniors and seniors are planned to commence and will be notified to cricket members by the Cricket Director.

The clubhouse will be closed except for the downstairs toilets which will be open from 9am to 10pm. Changing rooms and showers will remain closed.

We aim to have a marquee covering over part of the balcony and are looking at providing tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks if permitted. Use of this area after playing sport is permitted subject to social distancing and abiding by the “Rule of six”.

12th April

Indoor facilities can re-open.  Squash members can finally resume play on newly refurbished courts and can participate in new coaching and playing programmes. The gym is also ready to allow members to start using the facility, however, restrictions are likely and these will be communicated to gym members as soon as they are confirmed.

Short Sports weekly classes will resume in the Sports Hall and Lake room.

The Indoor sports hall will reopen.

The clubhouse will remain closed except for downstairs toilets. We will be able to open for outdoor service, with no requirement for a substantial meal to be served alongside alcoholic drinks, and no curfew. The requirement to order, eat and drink while seated (‘table service’) remains.

17th May

The bar and catering will open indoors for groups of six and same households. We plan to continue to serve outdoors and restart our successful weekend BBQs.

21st June

The Government has indicated that, subject to their conditions being met, there will be no meaningful restrictions in place.

Club Annual General Meeting

The plan, which our Honorary Secretary, David Wills will confirm, is to hold the AGM on Friday 26th March at 7.30pm by Zoom and to email members by Friday 12th March with the AGM notice, agenda and the General Committee and Financial reports.

We continue to be guided by our various sports governing bodies and the Government. Please continue to observe and to keep up to date with the Government’s Covid-19 rules

Keep safe and well.

Richard Creed

Chairman
